VOLUNTEER

Urban Street Angels offers several opportunities for members of our community to support our work in ending youth homelessness.

Our “Be a Friend” mentor program, in partnership with Lucky Duck Foundation, pairs volunteers with our youth. Volunteer “friends” will assist youth with necessary life activities, share knowledge and life skills, and have the opportunity to communicate with youth and spend time outside of the program. This relationship continues long after youth graduate from our program.

“Friends” should expect to make a one-year commitment to the program, and agree to meet in person with their youth at least once per month, along with weekly check-ins by text or phone. Listening with empathy, compassion, patience, and an open mind are a key to forging a successful relationship with our youth.

Additionally, volunteer opportunities are available at our downtown San Diego facility in the areas of laundry and kitchen support.
